Used on the suction side of fire pumps and manufactured to BS336, these fittings have a round thread to prevent the threads jamming when clogged with earth or particles which would be time consuming to clean in an emergency.
British Standard Round Thread (BSRT) couplings are available in two sizes. 4" and 5-1/2" round thread fittings are used on the suction side to provide large volumes of water to the vehicle pumps. 2-1/2" round thread fittings are available but are only used on underground hydrants and Standpipes. They are not manufactured to BS336.
BS336 round thread suction hose fittings are manufactured in aluminium for fresh water, gunmetal for salt water and can also be manufactured in stainless steel to order.
WINOCEAN are able to supply a complete range of BS336 round thread adapters. Normally these would be manufactured to order in aluminium or stainless steel . BSRT to BSRT, BSRT to Bsp or Npt, male x male, male x female are made to order, round thread to flange are also readily available.
